The Tupperware cabinet always feels overwhelming, but trying to find the smallest of those containers in a sea of chaos makes an already daunting challenge even harder. If you are using a big cabinet for your large containers, the small ones get lost in the abyss.

Whether it is for dressings, sauces, or snacks, those tiny containers deserve better than being buried at the back of a dark shelf. We recently used this simple solution in a client’s home to reclaim their kitchen, and I knew we had to share the steps (and the links!) so you can do the same!

Ditch the Tupperware Chaos with Custom Drawers

Professional organization photo by Tara M. Stewart showing small plastic sauce containers and blue lids neatly sorted in a white drawer using adjustable bamboo dividers.

Instead of tossing everything into a large bin, we moved these small items into a shallow drawer and used expandable bamboo dividers to create custom lanes.

Why This Works So Well

  • Instant Visibility: You aren't digging through a dark cabinet anymore. Instead, you are looking down into a perfectly organized drawer where you can see every single container and lid the moment you open it.

  • A Perfect Fit: By creating rows that match the exact width of your containers, they stay neatly stacked. Because the space is custom sized, they have nowhere else to go.

  • Adjustable Storage: These dividers are not permanent, so your organization can grow with you. If you buy a new set of containers, you simply slide the divider to fit the new width.

How to Get the Look:

A cluttered pile of mismatched plastic food containers and lids representing the "sea of chaos" often found in kitchen cabinets.
  • Clear the Abyss: Empty your cabinet and match every container to a lid. If it does not have a partner, it is time to let it go.

  • Be Brutally Honest: Aside from matching lids, look at the condition of the containers. If they are heavily stained, warped, or you simply never reach for that specific size, do not let them take up valuable real estate in your new drawer.

  • Group by Shape: Keep your round containers in one lane and square ones in another. This maximizes every inch of the drawer and prevents "stacking lean."

CRITICAL REMINDER: MEASURE YOUR DRAWERS I cannot say this enough: these dividers come in many different heights and lengths. Please be sure to measure the length from front to back, but also the height from the bottom of the drawer to the top. You need to ensure you have enough clearance for the drawer to close smoothly. We have put our favorite drawer dividers in various heights [HERE] in one spot on our Amazon Storefront.

Bonus Tip: Great for Larger Items

Large glass Pyrex containers organized in a deep drawer with tall bamboo dividers

This trick is not just for the tiny stuff. You can apply this same logic to your larger food storage too. As shown in this photo, you can use a deeper drawer paired with taller dividers to keep your Pyrex and meal prep glass organized. These are our favorite tall dividers * (but again remember to measure).

By using these taller dividers, you create a sturdy structure that prevents heavy glass containers from shifting or crashing into each other every time you pull the handle. You no longer have to worry about that dreaded "clanking" sound or chipped edges when you open the drawer.
